Rights to technology, software and AI products
Building a technology product, preparing it for investment or buying a solution from a vendor? We check the chain of title: from employees, contractors and source components through to the model, the product and the agreement with the buyer.
Paying for development does not by itself replace a check on the transfer of rights. For a product, agreements with the team, licences for software components and the terms of data use can matter. We help you see the gaps and determine which documents and terms need to change.
01 / scope of work
How we approach the task
01
Scope of the review
We agree the list of components, sources of rights, data and jurisdictions. We check the chain of title from employees and contractors, licences and the terms of use of open-source components.
02
Use and transfer
We carry out a legal review of the AI asset and prepare rights documentation for raising investment or a sale. We assess the terms of data use, trade secrets and the requirements applicable to the AI product.
03
Vendor agreements
We review and agree agreements with AI vendors, taking into account your company's role as a supplier or buyer of technology.
02 / result and boundaries
What you get
The result is a map of the rights and restrictions on the product, model and data, a prioritised plan for closing the gaps and the agreed documents. We fix the scope, cost and timing before the work starts, based on the product architecture, the number of sources of rights and the availability of agreements.
Model testing and information-security audits are separate tasks. We review only the agreed components and jurisdictions. Registrations and court disputes are discussed separately.
03 / questions
Before we start
Is it possible to check the rights before an investment round?
Yes. We agree the scope of the legal review and the preparation of documents on technology rights for investment or a sale. The depth of the review depends on the product and the materials.
Do you check the quality of the model?
The legal review covers rights, agreements and terms of use. Testing of model quality and information security is not included in that scope.
What should you tell us in a first enquiry?
One contact is enough for a first enquiry. If you wish, add a few words about the product, your role and the result you need. Do not send source code, datasets or confidential agreements through the open form; we agree the exchange procedure after an NDA.
Discuss the product and the rights
One contact is enough. We agree the scope, cost and timing before the work starts.
